Finding Books

Materials available at other URSUS libraries can also be requested online using the Request option.  Use the Search MaineCat button in URSUS to look for and request materials in MaineCat libraries.

Interlibrary Loan is an option for requesting materials not available in URSUS or MaineCat.  Request can be made using the online form:  http://library.umf.maine.edu/ill_form.html

 

Note:  Not all materials can be borrowed.  Many libraries will not lend materials in their microfilm, video, audio, and special collections.  Many also may not lend dissertations.  Check with a librarian about these types of requests

Finding Articles

Use the Indexes and Database or a print index to find articles. Print indexes can be used to locate much older articles. Some recommended databases include:

Academic Search Premier - covers many popular and scholarly publications and search results can be limited to scholarly (peer reviewed) journals.

America: History & Life – indexes research on the history of U.S. and Canada from prehistoric times to the present (publications are from 1954 to present).  There is a user limit of 1 for this database, keep trying if you don’t get into it the first time.

Business Source Premier – covers scholarly business journals, including international publications (publication coverage ranges from1965 to present).

EconLit – includes citations to economic research dating back to 1969.

PAIS International – citations to public and social policy research and literature (1972 to present).

PAIS Archive - “provides historical perspective on many of the 20th century's public and social policies.” (1915 – 1976)

ProQuest Newspapers – full text access to 500 international news sources (dates of coverage vary by publication; most dates range from 1980s to present).
