E-Reserves Troubleshooting Tips

I. Cookies:  In order to access EReserves the students Internet browser must be able to accept cookies.

A.  Internet Explorer

1.  Go to Tools > Internet Options > Privacy

2.  Set cookies restriction to low.

B. Netscape 7.0

1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Privacy & Security > Cookies

2. Choose View next to enable cookies based on privacy settings

3. Set cookies restriction to medium.

C. Netscape 4.0

1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced

2. Set cookies restriction to medium.

II. Acrobat Reader:

A. In order to view PDF files you must have Acrobat Reader. This is a free download from Adobe http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.

B. In order to access Acrobat Reader at the Computer Center students have two choices.

1. Use Netscape as their web browser.

2. Ask someone at the Help Desk how to temporarily change the cookies restriction to low in Internet Explorer.

III. Off-campus access to web links to full texts documents in databases:

A. Students who cannot access web links from off campus can go through the Maine databases web site http://libraries.maine.edu/mainedatabases/.

1. All web links are currently to full text articles in Academic Search Premier.

2. These documents are available in PDF and HTML formats.

3. They may be printed, saved to disk or emailed.

IV. Formats:

A. Items on EReserve may also be available in a hard copy format on the reserves shelves.
