Children in the Library

Mantor Library policies regarding children using the facility are as follows.

  • While in Mantor Library, all children who are 15 years old and younger must be accompanied and directly supervised by a parent/adult guardian at all times. The adult is responsible for the child's behavior in an environment designed for research and study. Unescorted children will be required to leave the library.

  • Members of the community who are 12 years old and older may request a free library card, which will allow them to borrow materials from the regular collection .

  • Members of the community must be 16 years old and older in order to have their own, personal computer accounts. Children who are 12 to 15 years old may use Mantor Library's computers on the first floor with a guest computer account. (Adults may not use their computer accounts to log children in to use the computers.) To be issued a guest computer account, a child and his/her parent/guardian must see a staff person at the Access Services desk. A guest computer account is temporary; it will expire at the close of the library on the day it is issued.
