Mantor Library
What's New
| Discoveries | Across the country, there are people like you, wanting books to read. Many of them are finding those books and talking to each other about them. These are the sort of materials we decided Mantor Library should be offering in addition to its standard fare, and that’s why we started a new book collection: Discoveries. Find out more or go straight to the list of titles in the collection. |
| GoodReads | Mantor Library has created its own group on GoodReads. You can go there to do things like finding out what new books are coming to Discoveries, making suggestions for us to purchase, or seeing what other people on campus are reading. |
| Download Audiobooks | Search through an ever-growing list of audiobooks you can download and listen to at home for free! You can find everything from fantasy to YA to classic literature and more. Burn them to a CD and listen to them in your car, or transfer them to an MP3 player of your choice. |
| New Aquisitions | A listing of titles, encompassing books, videos, and other media, recently acquired by Mantor Library. Posted monthly. |
| On Our Minds | Each year Mantor Library sponsors a reading program, On Our Minds. Our program goal is to get everyone reading the same book and to offer the campus community an opportunity to talk with one another about the book, reflect on the theme, and come away from the experience having learned something about ourselves and others. This year the library is pleased to announce the book for our On Our Minds 2010 reading program is Digging to America: A Novel by Anne Tyler. Multiple copies of this book will be available in the lobby in June, and we'll be putting up more information on the program on our website in the coming months. |
| Exhibits | The display case on the third floor features different exhibits weekly. UMF faculty, staff, and student organizations have priority in use of the display case, but consideration will be given to community organizations whose display is of historical or literary interest. Each display remains for one week, from Monday to Sunday. The sponsoring organization should be prominently identified with the display. To reserve the display case, contact Janet Brackett, Head of Access Services at 778-7211 or via email at janetb@maine.edu. |
| READ Posters | Have you seen the READ posters around campus featuring Professor Cooke or student Emily Weston? How about the old ones with the UMF Beaver or Professor Quackenbush? Wish you could have one of your own? |
